2021: Time to Pick Your Palette

The colors you choose to paint your home’s interior spaces next year will reflect the journey we’ve all been on in 2020—a blend of fast and slow, virtual and physical, say the experts at Sherwin-Williams. As the brand prepares to announce the 2021 color of the year, it has rolled out four paint palettes expected to be on-trend in the year ahead:

Sanctuary. This palette takes its cue from nature—a place more of us have escaped to this year for its calming and healing qualities in the midst of a global health crisis. Look for soft neutrals, like Bona Fide Beige, and earthy tones like Oakmoss and Canyon Clay, to help bring a touch of the outdoors indoors.

Encounter. For a contemporary, bohemian feel with a nostalgic touch, the colors in this palette offer muted hues that inspire a simple, authentic and artisan vibe. The variety of shades in this collection range from soft blue grays, such as Jubilee and Blustery Sky, to rich, moody colors like Java and Naval.

Continuum. This collection reflects the now indelible connection between home and technology. Inspired by mid-century modernists, this palette features white and charcoal shades, like Crushed Ice and Cyberspace, highlighted with contemporary pops of color, such as Novel Lilac and Limon Fresco.

Tapestry. Moving away from neutrals, this palette is for those seeking a colorful, vibrant home environment. The playful palette combines classic with cutting edge through bold, indulgent colors like Alexandrite, Perfect Periwinkle and Jaipur Pink.
